Abschieds vom Leben? In welcher Beziehung findet
Abstract
The focus of this article is on the mental effects of
a (hoped-for) transplantation which the author has
repeatedly observed in organ recipients in her work
as psychotherapist and art therapist. Do we benefit a
person if we let him hope to the very last that transplantation
will be possible? Or are we depriving him
of the opportunity to say farewell to life? How does
the recipient of a new organ relate to the donor?
Does the wish to be ‘whole’ blind us to the opportunities
for completion that are to be found in every life,
how ever short? The paper is devoted to these and
other questions.
